BIOGRAPHY

Perry El-Ashmawi was born in Bahrain in 1988 to Egyptian parents. In 2009, she attained a BA in Fine Arts from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, majoring in Painting & Drawing. Perry’s artworks take a contemporary approach, inspired by popular culture and rooted in tradition. She blends heritage and modern techniques to connect the past with the present in a playful manner. She has showcased her work in Canada, Egypt, Bahrain, and the UAE.

In 2021, Perry was awarded a scholarship for the Artist-in-Residence Grant with the Sheikh Saud Al Qasimi Foundation in Ras Al Khaimah. She is also fortunate to have her work selected for the Bahrain National Museum’s permanent collection.

As a certified art educator, Perry specializes in facilitating dynamic art activities and programs that nurture creativity and self-expression in young learners. She conducted art workshops at The Louvre Abu Dhabi as a represented artist for The Sheikha Manal Little Artist Program. Teaming up with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation and the Emirates School Establishment, Perry had the opportunity to elevate the artistic community through the national program Takween, which contributes to cultural and educational enrichment in the UAE. She also facilitated art activities with the Al Qasimi Foundation’s Prison Program, supporting inmates of the Ras Al Khaimah Correctional Facility.
